ACTIVITIES THAT CAN’T BE BEAT IN
JACKSON HOLE & THE SURROUNDING AREAS

Enjoy drinks and live music at the Wort Hotel, an historic Jackson Hole hotel built in 1941 located in Downtown Jackson. This spot is very popular with locals and visitors alike. A great time offering dancing and live local music.
Saddle up at Wyoming’s landmark Million Dollar Cowboy Bar for a great local Western experience.
Satisfy your need for speed at Jackson’s Alpine Slide and Cowboy Coaster located adjacent to the Snow King Mountain Resort. Afraid of heights? Stay grounded at the Putt-Putt Golf Course.

For anyone arriving on Wednesday, experience real cowboy action at the historic Jackson Hole Rodeo! The rodeo has been a part of Jackson Hole’s cowboy culture since the first settlers arrived over 100 years ago.
Explore the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Good dining, shops, mountain views, mountain biking, hikes, Frisbee golf, and more. Stop for a drink at the famous Mangy Moose bar! Also, take the tram to the top of Rendezvous Mountain for great aerial views of the JH Valley (bring a jacket, it gets windy). Tram rides are about ~$40 per person and take ~10 minutes to get to the top. Save money by purchasing tickets in advance online.

Visit iconic Grand Teton National Park just North of Teton Village on the Moose-Wilson Road. There is an entrance fee to get into the park. Once there you can drive to various points to see the sites or if you want to hike, here is a link to day-hikes in Grand Teton National Park. The park visitor center in Moose is an excellent place to begin your park adventure.

JACKSON TOWN SQUARE SHOOTOUT
A kitschy Western tradition since 1957, the shootout takes place every summer evening at 6:00 p.m. - except Sundays... there’s no shootin’ on Sundays, on the town square.

HIKING

Phelps Lake and Death Canyon
at the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve
A great moderate hiking trek to Phelps Lake overlook with the option for a longer hike into Death Canyon. Start from the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Visitor Center and parking area South of the Moose Visitor’s Center. Pack your swimsuit for a cold-water plunge off the locally famous “jumping rock”.
Granite Canyon
Moderate to difficult depending on length of hike. This hike goes to the top of the tram (15 miles), but you can go up as little or as much as you want.

Surprise & Amphitheater Lakes
Difficult, but “A Teton Classic.” This 10 mile round trip hike is a Teton classic, but because it climbs about 3,000 vertical feet over five miles it is considered difficult. An early start is recommended...or plan to sleep over!

Bradley & Taggart Lakes
Quiet 2.5 mile hike in GTNP. Another classic Teton hike, this one is generally a bit less busy than Hidden Falls. Leaving the parking lot 2.5 miles North of the Moose Visitor Center the trail soon divides, one to the South and one to the North, and these paths reunite at Taggart Lake.
Leigh, Bearpaw & Trapper Lakes
Leigh, String, Bearpaw & Trapper Lakes
Easy hiking with stunning views of the Tetons. This straightforward, flat hike offers views of the sheer North faces of the main Teton peaks. Leave your car at the String Lake parking lot and head North along a well-marked path.
Jenny Lake and Hidden Falls
Easy hike with a boat ride across the lake. This is a great spot for children and families as the boat ride alone is fun and the walk up to Hidden Falls is a bonus. Be aware that this hike can be quite busy! Boats leave from South Jenny Lake to Hidden Falls about every 20 minutes.

Snow King Mountain
Snow King Mountain is a summer and Winter recreation area. The mountain is Jackson's original 1936 ski hill, located on the southeast edge of the city. It was the first ski area in the state of Wyoming. Locals sometimes refer to Snow King as "The Town Hill."

Josie's Ridge Trail
Josie's Ridge Trail is a 3.4 mile out and back trail that offers the chance to see wildlife. The trail is rated as moderate and primarily used for hiking, walking, trail running, and nature trips.

BIKING

For biking enthusiasts, the bike trails are right by Teton Village. Bike rentals in the Village are available at many stores including JH Sports and Teton Village Sports. Bike trails go from the Village to Wilson and to Jackson for the more ambitious. The bike path in Grand Teton National Park is very nice, except for the stretch on the Moose-Wilson Road where you are biking with the cars (note: we don’t recommend biking North of Teton Village on Moose-Wilson Road due to dust and cars on narrow roads).
If you want to bike in the park it is best to rent your bike in Moose. Bike rentals are available at Dornan’s and from there you can bike North to Jenny Lake.
Pathway maps are available at local hotels and sporting goods stores, or online.
